CTCORE-Organize Now! is excited, honored, and privileged to partner with CEIO this year, to bring to you our Fall Racial Justice Conference.
About the 2017 CTCORE Racial Justice Conference
In this time of massive environmental, social, political, and spiritual imbalance we recognize the role of radical integration in regards to authentic community building, relevant social justice training, effective community organizing, and in all matters of the liberation and healing of the body, mind, and spirit. We further recognize the interconnectedness between ALL of these aspects and deeply understand that to sustain the wholeness and vitality of this racial justice eco-system, conscious and co-creative intention must be applied.
Dismantling systemic racism and eliminating systemic racial inequities and disparities is the foundation of CTCORE's purpose. CTCORE has a 3-pillared approach to racial justice/equity work: Community Building, Training, and Community Organizing.
At the 2017 CTCORE Racial Justice Conference we will come together in community to celebrate the unveiling of CT CORE's organizing platform and to explore racial justice work through a CTCORE lens.
About the CTCORE Platform
In January, 2017, CTCORE began meeting monthly with a group lead by people of color who are organizers, educators, artists, healers, and more to begin the process of drafting a platform for racial justice organizing in Connecticut. In July, the group drafted and published a values statement which outlines the foundational beliefs and commitments underlying the platform.
We then organized a series of public forums exploring the platform's four key issue areas- Environmental Justice/Health Equity, Criminal Justice Reform, Economic Justice, and Education Equity. The central drivers underlying systemwide change that emerged for further exploration and definition were:
Current system issues of inequity
Imagining and building new systems and institutions
We hope you will join us for the unveiling of the platform.
At this year's conference will offer workshops, plenaries, an open space skill share, delicious food, wellness sessions, and childcare!
We will explore concepts of embodied leadership within our organizing. We will sing, dance, release, and connect. We will plan and digest wider perspectives on where we are in this current moment and the immense opportunities before us for radical healing and action.
